Lyrics

WASHINGTON NEEDS WASHING DOWN

I don't understand what's happening to the land
World so tense
No common sense
Everything is changing, spinning fast
Eagle losing altitude, will she last?
Eagle losing altitude, will she last?

Chorus: Washington needs washing down
Losing her crown
Black skies, burned ground
Green earth turns brown

Sizzling sun, eagle spots her prey
Swooping down, then she lets it slip away
Sun getting hotter, hearts getting colder, inside of man
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
Maybe that's the plan
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
Maybe that's the plan

Chorus: Washington needs washing down
Losing her crown
Black skies, burned ground
Green earth turns brown

(Losing) Washington, (losing) washing down
Along with the rest of the world (losing)

Losing altitude (fly Eagle fly)
Sees her prey, lets it slip away (don't give it all away)
What will she feed on, what will she feed on? (don't give it all away)
What will her children feed on?
Slip away, don't let, don't let, don't let it slip away
(What will your children feed on?)
Don't give it all away, (losing altitude)
Don't give it all away
What will your children feed on?

Thy kingdom come thy will be done
(What will your children feed on?)
Maybe that's the plan
Washington needs washing down
Along with the rest of the world

Has the last few years left you despondent and disillusioned? This is the song that describes what we are going through, with its slow, contemplative melody and well thought out lyrics to match. It follows "Thy kingdom come" with a cynical "Maybe that's the plan" which is a quite a poetic punch that shows how far things have seemingly gone. Eliza Gilkyson has written such lyrics for social comments. This one does the same and is done very well.

sentiment is right on...chording is nice...love the percussion.
ego losing altitude...great line...

Very well-written, well arranged piece with a really good message. Very relaxing vocals and vocal mix and just a jazzy, relaxing feel to the whole piece. Good work.

Hi I have just finished listening to your song, very nice work! Nice melody and nice message on the lyrics The vocal has a very smooth and silky quality and is well mixed. Nice arrangement on the back up vocals too. The song flows well and has a relaxing atmosphere. Good job!

Like the piano and the percussion, which gets lost a little once the song gets going. The synthy sound that's involved from the start is a little distracting and could possibly be lower in the mix. The vocal is clear and mixed appropriately, but I think an alternative, contrasting melody could perhaps be usefully employed for the chorus to lift it and help it stand out. But there's lots of good lyrical content here, and I enjoyed listening. I hope my feedback helps in some way :)

Flows really nicely. Lyrics and vocals are cool. Nice smooth vibe. Well crafted and constructed song.

unique voice! very relaxing sound..
